Albuquerque's second Annual Comic Expo is a comic book lover's dream.
As hundreds walk through the doors with tickets in hand, the Convention Center is their sanctuary for three days.
A place where sci-fi and comic book fanatics have somewhere to cut loose and let their imagination take flight.
"This is King Ghidorah from the Godzilla series. The Bad Monster," describes Dawn Lupton of Albuquerque. Elaborate costumes? Yep, you'll find plenty of them at the Albuquerque Comic Expo. "Seems like here I'm not afraid who I am so I can dress up whoever I want to be and it's nice," said Sonya Yazzie of Albuquerque.
Fans spend some time at the game stations; some are also looking for the comic book classics.
"I'm looking for a venom comic. I am a big venom nerd," laughs 12-year-old James Brazell.
A mail order, vintage comic dealer is in Albuquerque for the first time.
"I figured I'd give it a try. I sell vintage comics like Spider Man 1, Incredible Hulk number 1, first appearance of Thor," said owner, Terry O'Neill.
The co-creator of all of those characters, American icon Stan Lee is once again a huge draw.
The comic book legend said he's happy to be back in the Land of Enchantment.
"I had such a good time last time," said Lee. "I think the people are lovely and I love the land, I love the country. I love Albuquerque."
Many at the expo say interest in comic books is only increasing with blockbuster hits like The Avengers filmed in the Duke City.
"These are stories that everybody can latch onto if they're well told and they're well presented and certainly the movies have been so well told and so well presented," said Lee.
The Albuquerque Comic Expo culminates Sunday with a super hero's meet and greet at 4 p.m.
