New figures overnight show the fire burning the bosque near Corrales is at 288 acres - almost three times more than the previous estimate.
The fire has not burned any structures, but firefighters continue to battle the blaze on the east side of the river.
They tell us about 40 homes are still threatened.
The fire is still zero-percent contained on the east side of the Rio Grande. About 123 firefighters are working on the ground there. There is no word on when aerial drops will resume.
On the west side, crews are mopping up. Only four engines remain on scene there.
NM 313 is still closed from Tramway to 550.
Corrales Road is open in both directions.
The fire has caused the city of Albuquerque to issue an air quality alert that will be in place until 5 p.m. Thursday.
Officials are urging people to limit outdoor activities and keep doors and windows closed.
No mandatory evacuations are in place, but some area hotels tell us they are offering discounted rates to anyone affected by the fire.
Those hotels include Hotel Albuquerque, the Nativo Lodge, the MCM Elegante, the Sleep Inn Airport and The Country Inn & Suites at Gibson and I-25.
Many people affected by the fire are also looking for shelter for their livestock.
Anyone with horses can evacuate to 413 Reclining Acres Road in Corrales, west of Loma Larga. For more information, call (505) 554-7344.
