Authorities report vandalism at Fort Sumner Museum

De Baca County authorities are on the search for thieves who broke into the old Fort Sumner Museum.

Officials said three antique rifles and a shotgun were stolen from the museum around 3:40 a.m. on June 16.

The Billy the Kid tombstone, weighing over 2,000 pounds, was tipped over and damaged. Other graves in the cemetery were also vandalized.

De Baca County Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest.
