The Mountainair man who shot up his home with an AK-47 and told police he had explosives throughout his house Tuesday has been charged.

Morris Haviland, 54, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and negligent use of a firearm.

Mountainair police said they responded to a call about an active shooter at a home on Orme and Acoma around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

When Torrance County sheriffs deputies arrived on scene, they found Haviland threatening to kill himself and shooting up his house and through walls with an AK-47.

Authorities were able to talk him out of the house.

Police told KOB Thursday that Haviland was found to have all ingredients needed to make a bomb.

However, he can't be charged for having the items unless he actually made a bomb.

Police tell us they found pipes and broken alarm clocks in his house.
