SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The state Game and Fish Department says more than 3,000 licenses to hunt deer and javelina remain available to sportsmen in New Mexico and other states.

The licenses are left over from the state's annual drawing and can be purchased by hunters of any age who didn't obtain a permit for that species.

The department also is offering 1,500 antlerless elk licenses for hunters under age 18 - New Mexico residents and nonresidents - who didn't draw a license for the upcoming big game hunting seasons.

The elk licenses go on sale Thursday.

The licenses are available online at the department's website.
