You wouldn't expect to see items like chicken, steak and shrimp on the menu at a vegan restaurant.
But, it's exactly what you'll find at Thai Vegan on Osuna near San Mateo.
Of course, it's not real meat.
Chef Pat Phomnoi at Thai vegan puts a Thai twist on vegan food.
He's been eating vegan since he was a child in his native Thailand.
Before stepping into the kitchen, Chef Pat was a Buddhist monk for 28 years.
A missionary trip brought him to the United States, where he traded in his robe for a chef's hat.
Chef Pat has a saying at Thai Vegan, "Thai vegan is healthy first. Healthy first," says Chef Pat.
He cooked up items like shrimp with spinach noodle in a curry sauce.
"But not real shrimp, vegan shrimp. Made from potato," says Chef Pat.
The Praram's plate is a bed of spinach topped with chicken, that's actually made of soy bean, and peanut sauce.
Veggie lovers will love the P.E.T. - which is pumpkin, eggplant, and tofu stir fried in garlic sauce.
Chef Pat also made sure we saved room for dessert: banana spring rolls and sticky rice with mango.
