FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - City officials in Farmington will consider a funding request for upgrades at the Four Corners Regional Airport.

The Farmington Daily Times reports that an annual Federal Aviation Administration inspection found chipping and cracking on the airport tarmac and discovered that airport signage didn't comply with regulations.

Assistant City Manager Bob Campbell says the chips and cracks on the airport tarmac present a risk to aircraft.

He says repairs would not be needed for two more years under normal circumstances, but that the damage found was bad enough to warrant immediate repair.

The request also would provide funding for the purchase of mobile radios to bring the city into compliance with Federal Communications Commission regulations.
