When you think of late night eats, "after the bar" food if you will, normally quality isn't a top priority.

Just finding a place open is hard enough as it is.

Well, in this week's Best Bites, we're taking you to The Last Call in Nob Hill, where the flavor doesn't stop, even at 2 a.m.

Owner Luis Enrique Valdovinos packed up his car five months ago and moved from San Diego to Albuquerque to open up The Last Call.

Located on Richmond behind Imbibe, the tiny, hole-in-the-wall eatery is serving up big flavors from Valdovinos's neck of the woods.

"Mexican, Baja-style food with asian influences and Mediterranean ingredients," is how Valdovinos describes the menu.

As you can probably tell from the name, The Last Call is popular among the late-night crowd, but not only for it's convenience at 2 am.

"We do Ensenada style fish tacos, we have sliders, we have a truffle grilled cheese," says Valdovinos.

One of the most popular items has to be the carne asada fries.

Valdovinos starts with the fries, then the carne asada, melted monterey jack. He tops it off with his house-made sauces: habanero salsa, mexican cream, and chipotle aioli.

Cilantro and squeeze of lime add the finishing touches.

Or how about some chicken tacos with black beans and cotija cheese? Just make sure you order it using it's pick up line, "How was heaven when you left?"

If you want steak tacos, that would be "Who's your daddy?" And "Don't you know me from somewhere?" works for vegetarian. That's a theme you'll see throughout the menu.
