The Republican National convention kicks off Monday and KOB Eyewitness News reporter Chris Ramirez will be there to bring you all the developments.
Perhaps most interesting to New Mexicans - Gov. Susana Martinez will be speaking during prime time on Wednesday, right before Romney vice-presidential choice Paul Ryan.
Martinez - who is the first female Hispanic governor in the U.S. - says she wants her speech to help clarify the differences between Presidential candidates Mitt Romney and Barack Obama.
She says she also wants the nation to know that New Mexico is an important state this election season.
Right on schedule at noon Mountain Time on Monday, Republicans gaveled open their convention that will culminate with the nomination of Mitt Romney to be president.
Party Chairman Reince Priebus banged the gavel on an abbreviated Monday session as the threat of Tropical Storm Isaac forced the GOP to cram four days of speeches and videos into three.
A smattering of delegates, including members of the Texas delegation, attended the shortened session in the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
The GOP still planned for vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan to deliver his speech on Wednesday and Romney to address the delegates on Thursday.
Stay with KOB for live reports throughout the convention.
