New numbers show Albuquerque has lost nearly 2,000 jobs within the last 12 months.

That's according to the New Mexico Business Weekly.

The new numbers continue the slide that has continued since December.

The unemployment rate for Albuquerque metro area currently sits at 7 percent.

In related news, people who live in Albuquerque appear to be getting paid less than people in many other parts of the country.

According to U.S. Census data, people with professional, scientific or technical jobs earn an average of about $63,000 a year.

That's about $10,000 less than people with the same kind of jobs make in other cities that are similar in size.

For example, in the San Jose metro area, people with these jobs make about $111,000 a year.
