The State of New Mexico will be showcased Wednesday night on a national stage.

Governor Susana Martinez will address the Republican National Convention in Tampa with millions watching on TV.

Gov. Martinez is one of a handful of minority speakers who will urge Americans to choose the Mitt Romney-Paul Ryan ticket this November.

It is no coincidence that Gov. Martinez is a headline at the RNC. She is minority, she represents the demographic that the Republican Party wants to target, and the Romney campaign makes no secret that they need the Hispanic and female vote

"The national unemployment rate is higher than the national average, and having people like your governor, Gov. Martinez, come in and talk and explain why president Romney is so much better than President Obama is so important to the Republican Party," said Romney Dep. Press Secretary Sarah Pompei.

If Romney wants to win the White House, he will need more advocates like Gov. Martinez supporting and campaigning for him.

Gov. Martinez shows the nation that the party is not just one for white males.

"I think it's absolutely to get a voice to the minorities," Rep. Steve Pearce said. "They, in the past, felt like Republicans didn't care and didn't invite them in. That's not true at all."

Gov. Martinez has pledged her full support for the Romney-Ryan ticket, although she said she does not have any official campaign plans right now.

"If he asks me, I will do as much as I can," Gov. Martinez said. "My focus is on New Mexico and I won't do anything to take my time away from that focus, but I will absolutely help Mitt Romney in any way possible."

Gov. Martinez is set to speak on the 2012 Republican National Convention stage during the 8 p.m. hour MST.
