The first week of the high school football season provided some standout performances.
Sandia's Aaron Smith scored two touchdowns vs West Mesa.
Sandia's Craig Coffman helped account for 13 points in the Matadors 37-6 win over the Mustangs.
Manzano's Todd Countee blocked what would have been the game-tying PAT for Volcano Vista.
Manzano's Angel Gonzales threw for 232 yards and 3 TD's in a 35-34 win over the Hawks.
Volcano Vista's Joe Searcy-Ortega scored two touchdowns vs Manzano.
Volcano Vista's Reid Hendricks threw three touchdowns in a loss to the Monarchs.
La Cueva's Michael Rose rushed for almost 200 yards and scored four touchdowns in a win over defending state champ Cleveland.
Valley's Esteban Loera scored two 4th quarter touchdowns, including the go-ahead score, in an upset win over Cibola.
Cibola's Derek Martinez threw for 262 yards and four TD's in a loss to Valley.
Rio Rancho sophomore Easton Bruere threw for 386 yards and four touchdowns in his debut as Rams quarterback in blowout victory over Highland.
Kamal Cass from Clovis scored four touchdowns in a shutout win against Capital.
Carlsbad's Rodney Holcomb threw one touchdown and ran for another in a 20-6 win over Roswell.
Los Lunas running back Jalen Chavez rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns in an upset win over Aztec.
Los Lunas quarterback Chris Wiseneski threw three touchdowns against Aztec.
Artesia's Trevor Eulenbach threw five TD's for 352 yards in a blowout win over Lovington.
Grants running back Timothy White rushed for over 270 yards against Santa Fe.
Los Alamos quarterback Brice Van Etten accounted for three scores against Pojoaque.
Atrisco Heritage quarterback threw game winning touchdown to Jeremy Sanchez against Eldorado.
St. Pius running backs TJ Sanchez and Nic Stafford each scored three touchdowns in a romp over Albuquerque High.
