State police have confirmed the identity of the man who drowned Sunday in Navajo Lake.

State Police Sgt. Doering said he is Ken Klassen, 20.

Previously State Parks had told KOB that the accident happened as three men were boating in Frances Canyon.

Klassen and two friends were cliff jumping in the area when they decided to try and swim across the canyon.

About halfway across Klassen became tired and called to his friends for help. His two friends actually came back and reached him but they themselves were unable to grab him because they were tired.

Klassen went under around 4 p.m.and his body was found at 6:20 p.m.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, police said.
