New Mexico delegates to cast votes for Obama at DNC

Fifty New Mexico delegates will cast ballots this week to nominate President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden at the Democratic National Convention now under way in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Members of the delegation said they are "itching" for Tuesday tonight to arrive so they can start telling the nation how the Republicans got it wrong at their convention in Tampa last week - and how the Democrats are going to get it right. " We're right and the other guys are wrong" being a pretty continuous theme in American politics for quite some time now.
It is a big night in Charlotte with First Lady Michelle Obama scheduled to talk about her husband and his values and his goals for the next four years. San Antonio, Texas Mayor Julian Castro will deliver the Democrats' keynote address.
Last week, the Republicans made a hard pitch for the Hispanic vote, featuring a speech by New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio's ringing introduction of Mitt Romney.
New Mexico delegates promise their party will deliver more.
"Look, last week was nothing but rhetoric in Tampa," said state party chairman Javier Gonzales in a satellite interview from Charlotte. "You cannot just put a Hispanic face on the camera and expect that you're gonna convince millions of Hispanics that you have policies that are important to them. the reality is that last week we didn't hear one single policy by the Romney-Ryan ticket about what they would do for Hispanics."
Native Americans have a strong presence in the New Mexico delegation, promising a convention that will celebrate diversity.
"For Native American people, there is no other option but the Democratic Party and Democratic values and re-electing President Obama," said delegate Tracy Goodluck, joining Gonzales for the satellite interview. "There's been nothing mentioned by the Republican Party at their convention about the unique history of our tribes in the history of America."
