A young dog has been wandering onto the property of a Four Corners family for nearly a week and the family wants to find the owners.
Friday was the first time Carol Leuenhagen and her husband, Kevin, saw the white dog near their home in Bloomfield behind Sunray Park and Casino.
“And he got scared and ran off. I didn't think anything of it. Until he came back Saturday night," Carol said.
By then the young dog had stumbled into a porcupine.
“There was probably about ten needles and they were all stuck in his nose," said Kevin.
The needles eventually came out but the dog has returned to their house every night since. Tuesday night was the first time the family took him in.
Kevin said the dog isn't a stray because it's healthy and has a collar. “I know if my dog was missing I'd want him back."
The family said each time the dog would come back to visit them at their home, he'd come from the direction of where the river is.
The family hopes whoever his owners are weren't merely camping and just passing through town.
“I took him to the vet last night but he doesn't have a microchip," said Kevin.
The family even posted his picture on Craigslist. “So I guess we're just hoping we can find where this poor dog belongs."
But if they don’t…
“Well, our kids have already fallen in love with him so he's probably already got a home," said Kevin.
