ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A new poll shows that Democrat Michelle Lujan Grisham is leading Republican Janice Arnold-Jones in the race for New Mexico's 1st Congressional District.

The poll commissioned by the Albuquerque Journal shows that 46 percent of the voters surveyed in the Albuquerque-based district support Lujan Grisham, while 34 percent said they would vote for Arnold-Jones.

About 20 percent of the likely voters said they were undecided or didn't know whom they would vote for.

The poll of 409 voters was conducted Sept. 3-6 by Research and Polling Inc. and had a margin error of plus or minus 4.8 percentage points.

The seat is currently held by Democratic Rep. Martin Heinrich.

Heinrich is leaving the post to seek a U.S. Senate seat opening up with the retirement of Sen. Jeff Bingaman.
