New Mexico State Fair works to protect against swine flu

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico State Fair officials say they are working with state health and livestock officials to protect the public from swine flu.
State Fair General Manager Dan Mourning says officials have added extra hand-washing stations for areas where animals are housed and where horse and livestock events take place.
There will be lots of signs in English and Spanish urging fairgoers to wash their hands, and to refrain from taking food or beverages into areas where swine are present.
Nearly 300 cases of swine flu linked to farms and fairs have been reported across the U.S., although none have been reported in New Mexico.
New Mexico Health Secretary Catherine Torres says the best way to prevent illness is to wash your hands frequently.
The State Fair starts Wednesday and runs through Sunday, Sept. 23.
