Some Nob Hill merchants heard a rumor that the annual Shop and Stroll event was being canceled.
Some were pleasantly surprised when they found out what was really going on.
Officials with Nob Hill Main Street thought there was some confusion because of big changes with Shop and Stroll. They told KOB Eyewitness News 4 Tuesday that the big Twinkle Light Parade is moving from Downtown Albuquerque to Nob Hill to join the Shop and Stroll event.
"We couldn't be more pleased to combine the events and resources," said Nob Hill Main Street Executive Director Theresa Berg.
She said the events will highlight the area for people who have not been to Nob Hill for a while.
Berg said details are still being worked out, but she expects the parade to run on Central Avenue starting at San Mateo. Officials said Central will be closed from noon until midnight on Saturday, December 1.
While Nob Hill merchants are thrilled about more business for them, some Old Town merchants KOB talked with had no idea about the parade moving. They told KOB Tuesday night that this will definitely hurt business and want to know why the parade is moving.
KOB tried to contact city officials late Tuesday night to confirm the details but we did not hear back. We will stay on top of this story and bring you new developments online and during our broadcasts.
