A flood has caused the closure of State Route 264 in Arizona east of Tuba City, along with the closure of The Tuba City Public Schools, Tuba City Boarding School and Tonalea Schools.

Greyhills High School will release the students at noon.

A severe thunderstorm Wednesday caused water to flow over a bluff above the highway and wash out the roadway.

ADOT crews are working to repair the damage, but there is no estimate at this time on when the highway will reopen.

Drivers can use State Route 87, Interstate 40, and US 89 as a detour around the closure.
