The family of a toddler killed in a hot car is now trying to save lives.

That family and the city announced Friday the 'Look Before You Lock' campaign.

2-year-old Gabriel Torres Rodriguez died in August, after police say his aunt accidentally left the boy in her hot car for hours as she went to work.

Friday would have been Rodriguez's third birthday.

The boy's father said he hopes the new campaign will keep similar tragedies from ever happening again.
