3 weeks ago the University of New Mexico announced 11 of their 13 football games would be broadcast on television this season. Somehow three of their first 4 games can't be seen.
It was revealed to the media on Tuesday that Saturday's UNM-NMSU football game in Las Cruces would NOT be televised on AggieVision. It will only be broadcast online on ESPN3.
Let's review. The UNM-Southern game, not televised (nor was it planned to be). The UNM-Texas game was only shown on the Longhorn Network which cannot be seen in New Mexico. The UNM-Texas Tech game was televised on one of the Fox Sports cable channels. Now this upcoming game will not be televised anywhere.
The Mtn is no longer an option. The failure to televise this week's game has to do with the WAC's contract with ESPN. I can't remember the last time a UNM-NMSU game in Las Cruces wasn't televsied, but get used to it Lobo fans. This could be a sign of things to come. Remember, the UNM-Texas State game in Albuquerque on October 6th won't be televised either.
For the record, 6 games will be broadcast in a partnership with Comcast. Games on Comcast are available in the following cities throughout the state: Albuquerque, channel 77, Farmington 9, Gallup 31, Las Cruces 4, Las Vegas 23, Los Alamos 10, Santa Fe 21, Silver City 66, Taos 28 and Tucumcari 47.
