A 24-hour Walmart Neighborhood Market on Menaul and Juan Tabo is now open.
Dozens of people attended a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday morning.
The Walmart is located in the building that used to be the home of Wild Oats grocery store and a Chinese buffet restaurant.
As the restaurant’s sign is hauled off, it’s out with the old in with the new.
But not everyone is welcoming the 35,000 square foot grocery store with a pharmacy, bakery and deli.
"It’s been pretty tough,” said Paul Wilson. “All I've heard are backup alarms on the big heavy equipment.”
Wilson’s mom’s home is right behind the store, within earshot of the loading zone.
“Every morning long it's been our alarm clock - 7 o'clock to 4 o'clock - all you hear are backup alarms," said Wilson.
Some businesses in the shopping center have a mixed reaction to their new neighbor.
Some don’t support Walmart, while others look forward to the increased traffic.
One business says its relieved that about eight months of construction to renovate the building is finally coming to an end.
The store says it is employing 90 people.
"As long as APD will come to our rescue when we need them,” said Wilson.
"Because there will be kids back there. It's just going to happen. With their boom-boxes and blaring and stuff like that but it's been pretty good so far."
