UPDATE: Man arrested in attack on Montezuma Elementary student, 10

APD says it has arrested a man in connection with an attempted robbery and injury of a 10-year-old Montezuma Elementary student in Northeast Albuquerque early Wednesday.
The incident started Wednesday morning, as a group of kids waited at their bus stop near LaFayette and Comanche NE. Montezuma is located at 3100 Indian School NE.
An adult male stopped his car and demanded the kids give him their backpacks. When APD says it has arrested a man in connection with an attempted robbery and injury of a 10-year-old Montezuma Elementary student Wednesday.
After they resisted, he pulled out a pocketknife and started cutting the straps of one backpack on a girl.
During that process the girl was injured with the knife - but the cut was minor and did not require a paramedic transport.
When the students got to their school they reported it to the school nurse and she called police.
APD gave no details about the arrest.
