TUCUMCARI, N.M. (AP) - Emergency workers have rescued a Tucumcari teenager from a narrow ledge on Tucumcari Mountain.

The Clovis News Journal reports  that police and firefighters reached 14-year-old Alex Jauck on Monday.

Authorities say the teen was stranded about midway up the 700-foot landmark south of the city. It was not immediately clear how long the teenager was stranded.

After Jauck was located with the help of a bicyclist on the mountain, a climber rapelled down the face of the mountain to the teen, who was huddled on a small ledge.

The climber brought the team down from the mountain. The 14-year-old was transported to Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari and his condition was unknown.
