Albuquerque police say the 3-year-old boy who fell out a car near Edith and Kathryn SE as the child's mother was making a turn with the car received only minor injuries.
According to the mother, the child was not belted in and fell out when the door opened., police say. She told police the child unbuckled himself from his booster seat and tried to exit the vehicle - possibly thinking the two had already arrived at their home.
Police said the boy is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
The mother was cited for not having her child restrained in the vehicle. Police have also forwarded the case to the Crimes Against Children Unit for further investigation.
