Some parts of New Mexico are starting to really pop with fall colors.
And it's going to be a huge attraction when thousands come to Albuquerque for the Balloon Fiesta.
The Sandia Tram and Ski area are already gearing up for the rush. Operation manager Brian Coon is seeing it first hand these days.
"We're starting to get into that peak foliage time with the reds, the golds," Coon said.
The vibrant colors aren't quite visible from Albuquerque yet, but the real show is in the east mountains.
Coon suggests visitors should drive Sandia Crest Road/NM 536 in the East Mountains for the full autumn show.
"Most of them are viewed from the Ski area side, eastern side of the mountain and even just driving up the road is a beautiful drive - tree springs and dry camp for good hikes to see the colors," said Coon.
The colors are reaching their peak just in time for hundreds of thousands of guests in town for the Balloon Fiesta. A big boost to the Sandia Tram and Ski.
"After launch in the morning the people are looking for something to do," Coon said. "They're going to want to take advantage of the nice weather and get up top to the crest."
