Two injured in Pena Blanca beating

Two people were badly injured in a beating Sunday outside the Pena Blanca Recreation Center.

The Sandoval County Sheriff says two people were found unconscious and unresponsive in the street in front of the center at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Both were suffering from severe blunt trauma to their faces and bodies.

One victim, identified as Elaine Chavez, was taken by ambulance to UNM Hospital and later released.

The other victim, an unidentifed man, was airlifted to UNM Hospital, where he remains unconscious and unresponsive.

Two males are allegedly suspects in the case.

Alcohol may have been involved.
