More than 3,000 people turned out at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado to hear First Lady Michelle Obama speak on Wednesday.

“I just wanna get fired up and I wanna be ready to go and get this thing done on November 6," said Colorado resident Sandra Butcher.

The welcome for Michelle Obama was deafening once she took the stage. The First Lady wasted no time touching on issues like health care.

“We believe in an America where no one goes broke because someone got sick," she said to an enthusiastic crowd.

She talked about the President's stance on taxes. “Our president believes that teachers and fire fighters should not pay higher tax rates than millionaires and billionaires.”

The First Lady also had something to say about Governor Romney's comment on cutting funding for PBS at last week's debate. “Because we all know good and well that cutting Sesame Street is no way to balance our budget."

Though the speech was less than an hour, the First Lady’s message was clear: vote Barack Obama for President .

“Be that voice. Own your future and get to the polls on election day," she said.

Durango resident, Jenn Wagnon, said the speech was a good reminder about the importance of voting. “It was incredibly inspirational. She was a fabulous speaker. I think she really encouraged a lot of young people to get out and vote."

The First Lady will continue her tour of Colorado when she speaks Thursday morning in Douglas County.
