The Broadway show 'Lion King' is in Albuquerque right now. It will be at University New Mexico's Pope Joy Hall through October 28th.

Tickets are a little pricey, but for 130 children who probably couldn't afford it got to see it through the generosity of Saggio's.

The Lion King has been around in one form or another for almost 20 years - 15 in the Broadway form. And just like any great Broadway show they eventually take it on the road.

Saggio's owner Frank Casale wanted children to be able to see it.

"This is the 1st time we've had lion king here and it's such a special performance and we wanted to give the opportunity to some children that wouldn't have the possibility to see something like this," he said.

The cheapest ticket we could find started at $52 and up to $152 - way out of most of these children's price range.

Even so, Casale said he wanted them to be inspired.

"All of us as children we had someone in our lives - a teacher or someone,  a music teacher, an English teacher or someone that inspired us and think that anything is possible," he said.

The children were excited and appreciative for the chance to see a piece of Broadway in Albuquerque. Cristal Ortiz of Valle Vista Elementary School wanted to thank Saggio's and Casale.

"I think he is really generous to let us do this," she said. "I heard that 1 ticket costs $140.00 so to let us come it's really cool."

Fifth grade classmate Jeremiah Davis sure appreciated the chance.

"I think it's pretty good," he said. "I think it's pretty good that he did it cause for we can at least have a chance to watch it."

Sale tells KOB Eyewitness News 4 that he made a $5,000 dollar donation for the children to see the show.
