If you see smoke near the Jemez Wilderness over the next few weeks, don't panic.

The U.S. Forest Service will be conducting several large controlled burns in the wilderness this fall.

One of these burns is scheduled to start on Wednesday.

According to the Forest Service, recent blazes such as the Wallow Fire in Arizona demonstrate the need to carefully manage the growth of forests.

The Forest Service says that smoke from the controlled burn may affect Albuquerque.
