A spokesperson from the Board of Finance says the board has postponed a decision on the request for a new hospital at UNM until the next board meeting in November.

The Board was scheduled to vote Tuesday on whether to proceed with plans for a $146 million hospital in Albuquerque has been postponed.

But on Tuesday, board members said they want more information on how the Nov. 6 election might impact the need for new beds.

The hospital would be an extension of the University of New Mexico Hospital, the state's only level 1 trauma center. University officials say it would alleviate overcrowding in the emergency department where wait times can reach 36 hours.

The State Board of Finance is the last stop for approval before UNM gets a final blessing from the regents for the hospital.
