ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The city of Albuquerque is holding a number of events in honor of Rudolfo Anaya's novel Bless Me, Ultima.

The Rio Grande Nature Center State Park is hosting Saturday a "Walk in the Bosque" to allow residents to learn about plants in the New Mexico-based novel.

ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden is scheduled Sunday to hold El Jardin de la Curandera with curandera Tonita Gonzales.

The following week the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History will sponsor an art workshop and a scavenger hunt based on the book.

Bless Me, Ultima, a classic in Mexican American literature, is a coming-of-age story set on the llano of eastern New Mexico in the 1940s. The movie of the novel was released Thursday.
