The city Environmental Planning Commission voted late Thursday to reject a new Walmart on the city's West Side.

The decision came after a lengthy and contentious public hearing that lasted 12 hours.

Opponents of the proposed big box store at Coors and Montano said it wasn't needed and would upset environmentally important wetlands in the area.

Those who supported the store said it would be a convenient addition to the neighborhood and would bring jobs to the area.
