University of Phoenix to close Santa Fe campus

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The University of Phoenix will no longer have a presence in Santa Fe.
The Santa Fe New Mexican reports the college announced plans Wednesday to close its Santa Fe campus.
University spokesman Alex Clark says the facility is one of 115 branches the school is closing around the country.
Clark says fewer than 50 students are enrolled in Santa Fe and most are studying through online classes.
The university's lease for the campus on Siringo Road is up in January. Clark says they school will lease a new space to serve remaining Santa Fe students if the need arises.
University of Phoenix campuses in Albuquerque and Santa Teresa will continue operation. The for-profit college is owned by Phoenix-based education company Apollo Group Inc.
