Ninety Albuquerque schools will soon be receiving a portion of $74,000 donated by Smith's.

The money is part of the store's "Earn and Learn" program.

7 Bar Elementary school will be getting over $6,000 for a shade that will go over a playground for special needs children.

the amount of money given to each school is based on how much support the school receives from shoppers.

"All you have to do is go online and sign up for the school that you want to give to, and then when you shop at Smith's a donation is given to that school. So it's really, really simple," said Winston Brooks, Albuquerque Public Schools Superintendent.

Statewide, nearly 300 New Mexico schools will get a portion of over $238,000.
