Wildfires normal for this time of year according to Forest Service

U.S. Forest Service fire meteorologists said the recent wildfires in the Four Corners and the Sandia Mountains are normal during the fall season.
Rich Naden said there are usually a few weeks during fall where wildfires pop up. He says it does not help that our temperatures have been unseasonably warm, mixed with no rain and breezy conditions.
But, Naden said the fires have not been major, though they are watching them closely.
"The other big thing about this time of year is we don't have a lot of crews ready to go," Naden said. "We've got to really rush and get things going because we don't have a lot of things going this time of year. If something does emerge, it can be pretty significant."
Naden also said fall is a good time for prescribed burns, as long as the winds are calm. He said a lot of the crews hoping to do a controlled burn check with the U.S. Forest Service first to see if conditions are favorable.
