Who's the second leading rusher in the country?  Is he from Michigan, Oregon or Wisconsin?  Nope. University of New Mexico running back Kasey Carrier is the second leading FBS rusher in the nation with 968 yards this season.  He's 280 yards behind Nevada's Stefphon Jefferson.

Carrier rushed for 338 yards last weekend at Air Force.  Let me repeat that.  UNM running back Kasey Carrier rushed for 338 yards!

Carrier became the first player in Mountain West history to rush for over 300 yards in a single game.  His 338 yard total is also the most by any FBS player this season.

Carrier has rushed for 690 yards and nine touchdowns on 97 carries his last three weeks combined.  Even more impressive about his total is the fact he didn't play in week one against Southern and the following week he made his first start and only managed 12 yards against Texas Tech.  Since then, Carrier has posted over 120 yards in four of his last five games.

Truly impressive!

I'm not sure what statement would have been more believable at the start of the year, the fact UNM could go to a bowl game this season or the nation's second leading rushing is a Lobo.  Both are true.
