The Santa Fe New Mexican to move from downtown Santa Fe

The Santa Fe New Mexican will soon be moving.
The paper reported Monday that it plans to sell the company’s downtown office building and move employees to the printing facility on the southwestern edge of Santa Fe.
The building, which sits two blocks northeast of the historic Santa Fe Plaza, is being listed for $6.2 million.
That building has been headquarters for the newspaper since 1942. The property includes a 29,500-square-foot building and parking for 45 cars adjacent to the building and for another 55 vehicles in a lot north of Marcy Street.
The listing agent is Realtor John Hancock, affiliated with Barker Realty of Santa Fe.
The paper says the move is part of a long-term plan that has been in place since 2004. That year, The New Mexican bought a new press and moved its printing, distribution and warehouse operations into a new building near the Cerrillos Road interchange at Interstate 25. The plan has been to eventually move most operations to that facility.
The paper employs more than 150 people.
