Two fires burn near Durango

Fire crews are working to improve containment on a pair of fires burning near Durango.

Crews are trying to keep the Vallecito fire from moving closer to populated areas.

Presently, the fire is 25 percent contained and has burned over 220 acres.

Meanwhile, firefighters are still battling the Goblin fire that is also burning near Durango.

The Goblin fire has burned 700 acres and is burning in steep and rugged terrain.

the terrain is making it difficult for crews to attack the fire.

Officials speculated that a spark from the Durango-Silverton train started the fire.
