Santa Fe's mayor touts new flights to Denver

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Santa Fe's mayor says a regional airline's plans to resume direct flights to Denver it halted in 2007 will be a big benefit to the city.
Mayor David Coss said in his annual "state of the city" speech that Great Lakes Airlines plans to begin the twice-daily service soon.
It also will provide direct flights between the state capitol and Clovis.
The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that Tuesday's speech focused on the city's economic recovery and touted its declining unemployment rate.
State figures show Santa Fe's unemployment rate is at 4.8 percent after hovering around 7 percent in 2009.
Coss also indirectly criticized Gov. Susana Martinez for her push to stop issuing drivers' licenses to illegal immigrants, saying that drives a wedge into the electorate.
