According to the Montezuma County Sheriff, the Roatcap fire has burned 396 acres near Cortez and is 20 percent contained.

Officials say about 100 homes and other structures in the area are threatened.

For information, officials say evacuees should check the Montezuma County Sheriff's office website  or call these hotlines: 970-564-4997 or 970-564-4998 or the Dolores Substation at 970-882-4656.

The Montezuma County Fairgrounds is open for evacuated domestic animals and the Cortez Animal Shelter is taking in small evacuated pets.
