The NCAA has announced that University of New Mexico senior guard Jamal Fenton has been suspended for the first three games of the regular season for a minor NCAA rule violation regarding impermissible benefits.

The ruling will allow Fenton to play in both exhibition games, and he is allowed the practice and travel with the team.  He will sit out the Nov. 12 game with Davidson, as well as UNM’s first two games of the Paradise Jam.  He will be eligible to return on Nov. 19, the final day of the Paradise Jam.

Neither Coach Steve Alford or Fenton will discuss the specifics of the violation.
