A woman stabbed Wednesday morning in what police say was a domestic dispute is recovering from non-threatening wounds.

It happened around 8 a.m. on Cardenas NE near Central.

Albuquerque police say the man who stabbed her is Eddie Chavez.

He first ran from police, but was captured.

A neighbor said he saw the whole thing.

"I heard the door slam, hit and heard his voice running past my door and he was screaming," said Leo Baca.

"Again, I couldn't understand what they were saying. Then I heard her coming out and she was yelling 'call the cops! Call the cops! Call the cops!'"

Chavez will be charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
