GILBERT, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say an Arizona woman with dementia who had been missing for nearly two days has been found safe in New Mexico.

Gilbert police said Thursday that 73-year-old Linda Sue Wicks has been released from a hospital after a checkup and her family is headed to New Mexico to pick her up.

Police say Wicks was last seen about 5 p.m. Tuesday driving a car in Gilbert after grocery shopping with relatives.

The Arizona Republic reports that Wicks' daughter says her mother was found sitting in the back seat of her car parked in drive on a highway in Deming, N.M. It's still unclear if the car had run out of gas.
