A local dentist said as of Friday he's paid out more than a grand as part of a Halloween candy buy-back event.

Dr. Byron Wall's office has been buying back candy from children 14-years-old and younger since Thursday.

The children are paid $1.00 for each pound.

The office will continue to take candy for the next two weeks, but won't pay for it starting Monday.

The office will donate the haul to the Blue Star Mothers to send to American troops overseas.
