Juarez boy with tumor gets extended stay in NM

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A 9-year-old Ciudad Juarez boy suffering from a massive tumor has been granted an extended visa to receive treatment in New Mexico.
Kevin Abar, assistant special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations in New Mexico, says the boy and his parents were recently granted extended visas to travel back and forth from Mexico.
Abar says the visas are needed so that the boy, known as Jose, can undergo a series of surgeries and treatment.
Jose was diagnosed with having mixed venous lymphangioma on his shoulder.
In July, Homeland Security Investigations officials transported the boy and his family from a dangerous neighborhood in Ciudad Juarez for medical treatment in Albuquerque.
His condition sparked New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez to urge federal officials to extend his family's stay in the U.S.
