Navajo executive employees get 8 hours off to vote

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. (AP) - Employees in the Navajo Nation's executive branch are getting eight hours off Tuesday to vote.
Tribal President Ben Shelly is giving the workers six hours of administrative leave, on top of the two hours they're already granted by policy.
More than 120,000 Navajos are registered to vote. Shelly is urging them to cast a ballot and help get others to the polls.
The tribe relies heavily on federal and state funding for education, health care, public safety, transportation, infrastructure and social services.
