New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez showed up at Puesta del Sol elementary school in Rio Rancho Tuesday evening, hoping to find out why voter lines have been long.

"You know, it's important that every vote that wants to be cast, is going to be cast tonight," Martinez said.

KOB Eyewitness News asked Martinez if she thought something was suspicious at the scene. Martinez said no.

"There's such a disparity. Rio Rancho, and the population here, which is ten times the size of the community of Bernalillo, they had more polling sites and more machines in the smaller community than we have here in Rio Rancho," Martinez said.

Martinez said calls have been made to the election clerk to try to find out why this had happened and stressed that everyone who was in line when the polls closed at 7:00 p.m. would be allowed to cast their vote.
