It looks like the city will be getting the money it wants to fund the Paseo del Norte/ I-25 interchange project.

Voters overwhelmingly approved a bond issue for the project - with 65 percent voting for it.

The vote now means the city can use up to $50 million toward streamlining the heavily-traveled intersection on the city's north side.

The state and federal government has already promised money for the project - but if voters didn't approve the bond, the city could have lost some of that money.

KOB's Adam Camp talked to Mayor Richard Berry about the long fight.

"I'll be glad to wake up in the morning and know that that project will start going because it's been so long in the making. We've worked hard to get to where we've gotten on that and we're appreciative that the folks decided that's a good idea."

Construction could begin as early as next summer.
