ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Attorney General Gary King's office plans a meeting in Las Cruces next month to help educate citizens and public officials about New Mexico's open government laws.

The office will make presentations on the Open Meetings Act and the Inspection Public Records Act, which provides the public access to documents and other information kept by government agencies.

The meeting is scheduled Dec. 6 at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Museum.

People who attend the free session will receive a compliance guide explaining the public's rights and the responsibilities of state and local governments under provisions of New Mexico's sunshine laws.

The attorney general's office periodically holds what it calls "road show" meetings across the state on laws to promote government transparency.
